Jul. 8, 2006 - Grrrrrrrr!! |
a bit hacked off at the moment. Pulled the offer on the boat in Greece at 5pm. Owner was being a prat and would not move on the price of the boat. Even his own broker was a bit miffed with him, to say the least. Truth be told, I don't think he ever really intended to sell. I certainly don't think he would have honoured anything a surveyor had to say. So the search is still on. Looks like a visit to the Virgin Islands may be on the cards soon. Never give up, never surrender. |

Hi, I've been reading your log with interest. I know the way you feel, we decided to sail the world a couple of year ago, however after travelling to Greece to see boats and weigh up costs of getting it home and refit as well as VAT poblems. Plus the boat out in Greece had no instrumentation on, so a lot of work would have to be carried out, out there before we could sail it home to complete the major refit. We decided to plough the 12k it was going to cost to get the boat home on to the top of our purchase buget and buy one in this country. After looking alover the UK and Ireland we found a Moody 33 and it was only 10 mile from our home in Blyth, a 24hr access port which helps tremendously when your trying to learn to sail. So our plans are on track as we're about three weeks away from completing the sail of the house and purchase of a small flat that we're renting out while we're away(just cos Debs wants the security of some where to come home too) Then May 07 we're off first port of call France. Then we decide is it the canals or the coast, we're watching Rick Styne with interest to see what the canals are like. Depth could be our major problem.
Hope your plans work out, keep up the dream there's more to life than work.
