Jul. 15, 2007 - Spirit Yachts at the BCYC

There were 8 of these beautiful, modern wooden yachts this year being the first time Spirit have held their Regatta at the BCYC Cowes week. In addition to admiring the lines and build quality we are big fans of the locally built Spirits.

Owner Sean Macmillan very kindly gave us a conducted tour of the Ipswich yard earlier in the year and he promised to do the same again whenever we want. Their 100 footer is nearing completion so watch this space for a date in the near future. It was the appearance of the 76 foot Spirit which inspired the theme of this years mid-week 'Casino Royale' fancy dress party. There were plenty of 'James' in dinner suits, but, surprisingly, only one man with a white cat and not a single finger painted gold.
