The crew flew in on a charter plane yesterday and filming started today.
The scene has Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan screeching onto the quay in separate taxis only to miss the ferry by seconds. Bill (Stelan) sees all this from up the mast and offers them a ride. I got sent up the mast in a bosuns chair so they could set up the scene.
The art department had done an amazing amount of work to make the scene a bit more Greek. All the tvernas were given new signs and their lounge furniture had been replaced by more tradition tables and chairs. Even the children's play are had be hidden behind a temporary building. Made of just wood and painted plaster you have to knock it to believe it wasn't stone.
I was sitting in the cafe opposite the quay when Colin arrived on set. There was an gasp and much clucking from all the ladies in the watching crowd as he stepped out of his car.
PS. A good tip for the next time you are on a film set. Turn off your mobile phone. It's VERY embarrassing to have the entire crew looking at you when you have ruined a take. |
