Come on in and say hello via a 'comment'. We've cruised our Hanse 46' sailboat from UK to Egypt to the Caribbean mainly two handed from 2004 to 2008 - and enjoyed every minute. We are back temporarily in the UK - but sunshine beckons us again for next summer.

20th April 2007 - All Done and Back in the Water

Posted at 6:29 AM, Sunday, April 22, 2007

Well doesn't she look nice and shiny and with the new bottom paint as well?  Even natty new fender socks......

Took this shot just before we got dropped back in on the 20th - gives you some idea of our three day treehouse long ladder living.

Radio and modem all now in and working fine - see my new antennas on the transom?  It's looking good - all I need now is to learn how to use it.  Have subscribed to Sailmail but yet to get a connection - may be due to lusy propogation right now or location in marina.  Will only be able to give it a good test when offshore.

Not much more we can do now - but reliant on others to get few final items on board.

Still have to collect new genoa tracks when back in UK and fit when we return.  Plus trial new sail and hope it does not need any corrective cutting.  Would be a horror story if it does - as Norths Sails are up in Istanbul and I don't fancy having it shipped back and forth.

Take delivery of new foredeck awning being made now in Kemer - plus new dinghy canvas covers to protect it from sun.

Apart from that, she's about ready for off once we get back from our EU weeks trip.

And we're both ready to move off also - the Greek islands beckon and we really do want to get acorss them before the summer meltemies set in.

Oh - took delivery of our new hard bottom dinghy also yesterday.  Got it  pumped up and out for a ride as quick as.  It goes like a rocket and so much faster onto the plane - plus a lot more comfortable in slop than the old HP floor model.  Good swop.

So another week of chillin here, then we're climbing onto the flight that younger son Rob and Louise arrive on - and swop the boat for their place.  They'll be using Swagman for the week with some pals whilst we base ourselves in the Forest and house / dog / horse sit - with 48 hours out flying over to Holland and back for nieces wedding.

Then its pass each other again at the airports as they fly in on the flight we take back - and with good fortune we will cast off 9th May once tracks and new sail are on.

Next set of pals we liaise with are Judith and Vivien who we pick up off Santorini.......so have three weeks to exit Agean Turkish shores and explore a few more Greek Islands as we slide over to meet with them.

Our plan is to then cruise over towards Poros / Againa / Athens where these guys exit, and we then head onward to Corfu and Croatia.

You all take care
JOHN
