Come on in and say hello via a 'comment'. We've cruised our Hanse 46' sailboat from UK to Egypt to the Caribbean mainly two handed from 2004 to 2008 - and enjoyed every minute. We are back temporarily in the UK - but sunshine beckons us again for next summer.

Working Weekend in Palma

Posted at 3:20 PM, Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Went down last Friday and back home last night.  Weather still warm enough for T shirts and shorts evenings as well as day times.  Not a lot of sun - but nice.  Despite high mooring costs can certain recommned Palma as a nice mooring spot.

Boat found to be all in good order.  Have our local electrician doing some work - added one new wet battery for the engine and added in the old gel engine battery to our service bank.  Gives us a total of 9 batteries - 680 amps in total.

We will also install a Stirling battery monitor and bigger generator next Feb to help speed up charge rates - our current output is way off our capacity so such kit will - along with not using so much electrical gear when underway - all help.

Purchased a further 120 foot of 10mm chain to supplement the 180 foot already up front.  Other 461 owners might like to know we've stored the additional length below the floors and right over the keel.

Gave the new folding bikes a good work out - 100% pleased we got them and recommend similar bikes to others.past.

Katadyn Watermaker arrived from USA.  Confirm this cost us 50% of buying same in the UK even with tax and delivery included.

Regards

JOHN
